Tony Neptune: The Long Gallery Review
Spacey sounds tell volume two of the adventures of Yuri Gagarin in an alternate universe created by Tony Neptune, an adventure that began with his first release back in 2020…
The first of the two tracks delivered here is an epic, texture-laden journey - The Long Gallery. It combines a dark and creeping vibe with the right amount of groove, and it’s a nice, long track - over ten minutes.
A Rude Awakening increases the pace, and is more of a peak time track, whilst still also rich in its layers of deep and interesting sounds. This works well both slowed down as a chugger, and at a faster pace with its lovely synth noises.
Tony Neptune is a true artist, and this is evident in the presentation of this record. As well as making music, he creates fascinating, intricate paintings depicting the otherworldly scenes that are also described in his music. These are the images used for the wonderful sleeve artwork, and the EP contains an insert - an evocative piece of micro-fiction the informs the reader of Yuri’s journey, as he finds himself on the planet Toierra. A masterpiece from a highly creative mind, this is a world well worth exploring…
